The virtual conference Nanosafety 2020 (5-7 October 2020) will focus on three highly relevant aspects of nanosafety research:

• Development of safe nanomaterials
• Toxicological aspects – from molecular mechanisms to prediction
• Nanomaterials and the environment

Two interactive workshops will be organized during the conference to expand the space for discussions between experts in the field:

• Digital research data in nanosafety research: challenges and need
• Translocation of engineered NPs from nose to brain – safe drug delivery via intranasal pathways

At this point, the following scientists have agreed to give an invited talk:

• Anne Kahru: Cost-efficient toolbox for evaluation of biological effects of nanomaterials: case-studies, challenges and outlook
• Mark Miller: Cardiovascular effects of nanoparticles
• Robert Yokel: Translocation of engineered nanoparticles from nose to brain
• Flemming Cassee: Adverse effects of respirable particles: Relevance of particle dosimetry and biodistribution)
• Stefaan Soenen: Toxic-by-design: controlled nanoparticle synthesis to direct nanomaterial synthesis to malignant pathologies
• Christian Laforsch: Microplastics in the environment

We are looking forward to new ideas and interesting and in-depth discussions between leading scientists as well as partners from regulatory agencies and industry.
